Adoption of the 2012 Codes

The State of Connecticut is in the process of reviewing the International Code Council's 2012 family of codes for the next version of the State Building Code. Information about the adoption process and the anticipated schedule can be found at the Division of Construction Services: Building and Fire Safety Code Adoption page.

The Codes and Standards Committee is seeking comments on the 2012 International Building Code, the 2012 International Existing Building Code, the 2012 International Mechanical Code, the 2012 International Plumbing Code, and the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code by December 15, 2013. The Committee is also seeking comments on the 2012 International Residential Code and the 2014 National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) by February 1, 2014. It is anticipated that the new State Building Code will go into effect in the first half of 2015.
